Implementation

The Carlsbad desalination plant will be designed and constructed by an internationally-renown team comprised of American Water, Acciona Agua, J.R. Filanc Construction Company and PBS&J. Individually the project team members have decades of experience in building large-scale water infrastructure projects and their scientists and engineers include some of the leading experts in seawater desalination from around the world. Collectively, Poseidon has assembled an unparalleled team to build one of California’s most important water infrastructure projects in decades.

• Acciona Agua – www.acciona-agua.es - One of the largest seawater desalination companies internationally, Acciona is responsible for project design and desalination technology expertise. Over the past 25 years, Acciona has designed, built and operated over 70 desalination facilities and 120 water treatment plants.
• American Water – www.amwater.com - Responsible for overall project management, American Water is the oldest and largest water services company in the world and the largest in the U.S.
• Filanc – www.filanc.com - Responsible for construction of the Carlsbad desalination plant. Headquartered in Escondido, Filanc has completed more than 300 water and wastewater treatment projects for cities, counties and water agencies throughout California and the southwest.
• PBS&J – www.pbsj.com - Civil Engineering and construction management will be overseen by PBS&J, which provides infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients.
• GE – www.ge.com - GE Water & Process Technologies will invest in the final stage of the desalination project and will also provide the pretreatment filtration with their GE ZeeWeedT membranes.
